Sunny and Crystal would kill me if I didn't... it was the only reason, originally, that I said in a soft voice, "I'm sorry." Yet the second the words left my lips, I knew I meant it. And Sunny and Crystal weren't the reason I found myself continuing, "I thought I was doing... not what was right, but what appealed to my own logic, screwed-up as it was. I was protecting the people I love... you don't know what they've been through at Daniel's hands... but I shouldn't have done it, and I know that now." I looked her straight in the eyes. "And the next time he shows up, it won't be because of them that I'll be dead before he takes you again."
