He narrowed his eyes and padded over. "Yeah, you seriously don't," he said, his voice calm but also intense. "Because if I ever see Lacey near you, Sorina, Crystal, or Shadow ever again, she's screwed and she knows it." Rose shifted, her blue eyes widening. "What did you do?" "That is not important." He smirked.

I layed my hands on her shoulders, trying to calm her. "Everything's gonna be fine." I said to her and yet again it felt like a lie. I was talking to her like I did to Thomas. He always worried, but I do as well. I had always been able to feel when something bad was going to happen. It's always been what I thought. The last situation I was put in was unexpected, but the person who was causing it was really good at keeping me from knowing who it was. Which is why I am deeply worried. I have no idea what could be going on. I tried to shake this from my mind. "Everything's gonna be fine." I repeated in my mind. I then smelled an unfamiliar scent approaching closer to the house. "Someone's here." I whispered very lightly. It was something I had always automattically did. I tried to ignore it but remembered that Lucian was here. He'd heard me.

Lucian read the change in emotions immediately and hopped up, padding through the doorway with the natural fluid grace that came from being mixed with a wolf. "I'll take care of it," he murmured, just loud enough for her to hear, and disappeared into the hallway. He stayed absolutely emotionless for almost two full minutes, then lunged out of nowhere, momentarily concealed in the shadows. When he reappeared, he was holding a sixteen-year-old boy by the throat. "This is your little stalker," he said through his teeth to Crystal.

I had no time to argue. He'd already left. When I saw the face of the boy I gasped. I shook my head. "Ugh just set him down Lucian." I said to him. I couldn't believe he'd do that. I mean it was kind of nice knowing if this was some dangerous guy he'd take care of him, but this guy didn't seem to be of any trouble. I would make sure Lucian stayed close to him just in case though.

Lucian's eyes narrowed to bright blue slits. He held on stubbronly for a moment before he growled, "Whatever," and let the boy go. He staggered for a moment, threw out one hand on the wall to steady himself, and raised his eyebrows. His eyes were blue, strangely familiar somehow, and he had bronze hair that looked as if it had a habit of getting messy. Lucian scanned him quickly, then focused on his face again, holding him an impenetrable gaze. "Who are you?" His eyes narrowed, though he looked more than a little intimidated. "Ah... Aidan Mystic. I'm looking for my sister?"

I narrowed my eyes a little frowning. I was trying to figure why he'd be looking for his sister around here. I then thought through his name again. I looked into his blue eyes and eveything automatically clicked. "Rose?" I asked qucikly. I'd remembered that his last name was the same one the witches had mentioned earlier. I remembered that Rose didn't really want to meet her family and I bit my lip. Am I actually as air headed as people assume I am?

"Yeah, I think that's her name." Lucian finally broke the intense stare and leaned back, although he was still completely focused. "How do you know her name? And where she lives? You must have been separated for a long time." He raised his eyebrows and shrugged. "I looked her up. Found she had a connection to a couple of witches..." "Those Rosser sisters," Lucian murmured, rolling his eyes. "...And then they told me where to find her. Is she here?"

I was always a good judge of character, but lately I have been second guessing myself. My instincts told me he could be trusted, while my mind said that he's lying. I didn't listen to my mind again. I had been standing in front of Rose to keep him from seeing her. I pulled her out in front of me to let him see her, but I kept her close in front of me just in case. It was the same hold I had on her when Lacey had shown up to take her. Though my grip on Rose's shoulders was far more relaxed then it was that night.

Rose narrowed her eyes slightly, making her look considerably less timid than usual, then slowly stepped forward, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. "You're my... brother?" she said, slowly and quietly. Aidan stepped forward softly, extending his hand and ignoring Lucian's rumbling growl. "I'm Aidan," he said calmly. She just raised an eyebrow at him. "Sorry, but I have understandable trust issues. So, you'll kind of have to prove you're trustworthy before I start shaking your hand." "Smart girl," Lucian muttered under his breath, and padded over softly to stand beside Crystal. "What do you think?" he murmured, just loud enough that she could hear and the other two couldn't.

I looked up at him. I whispered at the same volume he did, "You know how I'm normally a good judge of character? Well after what happened with Matt I have absolutely no clue anymore. My heart wants to believe him, but my mind says he that he can't be trusted. I advise we just keep an eye on him, just in case." I looked down at Rose and sighed. "If something goes wrong I know she'll be smart enough to know not to trust him. She'll be able to tell easily." I said this confidently, still whispering, while looking back at Aidan.

Lucian spun a ring around on his finger, his eyes darkening. "He makes a wrong move, he's dead," he said entirely too lightly. Rose crossed her arms, the suspicion very clear in her bright blue eyes. "And how did you know to look me up? Didn't you think I was like... dead or something?" He shook his head. "I remembered having a little sister. And Mystics get orphaned a lot, it's a family curse." Lucian was suddenly completely tense again, locking up as he heard movement downstairs. The slow, rumbling growl made even Rose and Aidan turn this time to look at him inquisitively. "Crystal?" he asked lightly. "Are you expecting even more surprise visitors?" The pursuing howl broke the eerie silence effectively as a wolf lunged out of the shadows straight for Rose. Lucian gave an exasperated snarl, yelled to Crystal, "Watch Rosey!" and sprang straight for him, shifting as he did. His teeth pierced the other's throat just as three more emerged from the shadows, moving in a cool, well-oiled way that made it obvious it wasn't a random attack, but a planned one.

"Ugh! Why does this have to happen now?" I groaned keeping Rose away from harm. I was sure Ebony had planned this. If this got rough quickly I didn't want to get involved, but I'd do what I have to, to keep everyone safe.

"Oh, don't you know? Between Marcus, Ebony, Lacey, and Matt, we aren't allowed a moment's peace," Lucian shot back sarcastically, shifting easily to human form. He wrapped a vice grip on the first of the werewolves and snapped his neck to the side effortlessly, and then lunged for the other one, slamming him against the wall. But in the moment or so when he was distracted the third lunged for his unprotected back - - and a hard, canine-shaped weight slammed into it, pinning it to the ground. There was a momentary struggle and then the scene shifted to a small, wiry human girl holding a guy about half her size by the throat. She raised her eyebrows briefly at Lucian, said, "How could you not handle this?" and then snapped his neck to the side, not unlike the way he had just moments before. She smirked and padded over as if nothing had happened. "Well, Lucian. Long time, no see." He blinked, recovering from momentary shock. "Hello, Syl," he said, his voice just a little bit too neutral. Her eyes narrowed - they were bright, making her look somewhat wolfish and very intense. "It's Sylvia. Call me Syl again, and I'll knock your fool head off." He raised his eyebrows. "Ah, a little ball of sunshine. Exactly as I remember you. Now what the hell are you doing here?" She twirled a strand of dark, curly hair around her finger. "Looking for vamps. I heard your name and knew it was as good a starting place as any." "Do I look like an undead bloodsucking fiend to you?" "No," she said mildly. "But you're always mixed up with undead bloodsucking fiends."

"Who the hell is this chick?" I asked more annoyed than I normally ever was. I never really acted this way, but I had been through too much stress to deal with any confusion any longer. I walked over to them holding Rose close to me still. My eyes narrowed as I looked over the girl. She didn't seem to be much of a threat, but she knew Lucian so that was enough to make me curious.

Lucian rolled his eyes. "This would be Syl - " She narrowed her eyes at him - "...via. She's an old, ah... acquaintance of mine." Sylvia smirked. "Notice how he doesn't say friend... we never liked each other."
