"Hey, cheap rent, no mom, and no school, remember?" She joked weakly, then stood. "But I seriously don't think I'd change the fact that I came here if given the chance. I've got my own reasons for placing myself in the path of near certain death." Her eyes darkened with an unreadable emotion and she seemed darker as she spoke those words. Her hands clenched unconsciously into fists as she sank into memories, the muscles in her jaw tightening.
"Give me Jace and I'll leave you alone today." Zathena offered cooly, her voice calm and icy cool, her smile scarily sweet.
Kalista cleared her throat, the fire in her eyes dying down and seemingly disappearing. The fire was still there however, it always had been, no one ever looked close enough to see it though, and her personality easily masked the darkness towards those who were unknowing. "Yeah, about that. You see, I may not like the good for nothing bloodsucker, but I can't let you kill him. Sorry. I might even be alone in that fact, but I really don't care."

Sorina shrugged. "I'll stand beside you," she said calmly, studying Kalista's face with a bright green gaze. There was something about the other girl she liked, some fire in her spirit that reminded her a lot of her own. "Yeah, so will I," Lucian muttered from the unnoticed place he had taken against the wall. He shrugged nonchalantly. "Again, not because I really care what happens to you or the bloodsucker, but for the sake of Sunny, and also because I have absolutely nothing better to do."

"Very well then." Zathina was still speaking in the smooth, soft tone of voice. Her words sounded almost gentle, but in a mocking, twisted way.
"See? I am loved." Jace looked up from where he was trying to take the knife from his sister's side. It was fairly obvious that he was having difficulty.
"Far from it." Kalista said, flashing a grateful glance to Sorina- she nearly did so to Lucian as well, but thought better of it- before tearing off a strip from her jacket and kneeling by Amalia. It wasn't like she had a death wish, and Sorina's suppoort, which seemed to automatically include Lucian's as well, was comforting in a place like this. Quickly, she removed the knife and wrapped the wound tightly to prevent more bleeding. "Learn how to properly dress a wound darling." She smirked to Jace, her voice fakly sweet. She moved to Sorina's side.

Lucian shrugged. "You'll learn to do more than that before you get out of this place," he muttered, his tone carefully neutral. Sorina rolled her eyes. "Mr. Optimistic over there just makes this so much more fun, doesn't he?" she said dryly. "And by the way, Jace, you won't be loved or trusted until you prove you're worth either of them, and I don't really foretell that happening often, so..." She shrugged.

Kalista snorted. "Personally, I don't think that that happens ever, so Mr. Know-it-All Annoying Gets on Everyone's Nerves No One Likes Him Bloodsucker might be lonely and annoying the rest of his life." She narrowed her aqua-teal eyes at Zathena. "And where Jace falls into the non-crazy-psychopath-lonely category, Zathena- oh I'm sorry, Zee -" She smiled rather innocently, but the flicker in her eyes proved that she was anything but, "Falls into the Crazy-lonely-phsycopath-who's addicted to fire category." She smirked, discreetly eyeing some sharp stakes used for holding volleyball nets down piled in a corner. She figured that they were better than no weapon at all, and edged closer very slowly.
"Do not call me Zee." Zathena spoke softly, almost sweetly, if it weren't for the sharp icy note lacing through it dangerously. In one quick lunge she had Kalista pinned by the throat to the wall.
Kalista clawed uselessly at Zathena's hand, gasping for breath. On a split second thought, she pretended to fall unconscious from loss of air.when Zathina threw her away in disgust, she landed right next to the heavy stakes. Very slowly, she inched her hand over until her fingers closed around the metal rod. Tensing, she waited patiently for the right moment, still keeping up the act.

Sorina looked up in alarm, her gaze flicking straight to Kalista on the ground. Her bright, analytical green gaze took in everything almost immediately. She's acting. Again. She almost grinned, and quickly bit down on the inside of her lip to maintain a completely unwavering expression. It wasn't like she was exactly lacking in acting skill. She took a step forward. "Zathena!" she called out, in an attempt to distract the witch's attention. Her eyes narrowed, suddenly flashing dangerously. Before she was changed, Sorina had always fought more with words - strength of spirit, not body. But being changed into a vampire granted her the ability to do both. She glanced around, hundreds of unknown, unreadable plans glinting in her eyes. Lucian finally left his place on the wall and stepped beside her, tilting his head lightly to one side. "You know," he said, his tone completely neutral, "We did warn you of what would happen if you decided to screw around with the people we're protecting. I'm not sure you know how big of a mess you might have just gotten yourself into." Sorina smirked in agreement, carefully keeping her peripheral gaze on Kalista.

Zathena turned slowly towards Sorina ad Lucian, her back facing Kalista. "Oh, I'm so terrified." She spoke in a flat, bored tone, then snapped her fingers. Ropes instantly wrapped around Jace, then dragged him to Zathena's feet. Eclipse sat on his stomach and surrounded them in a wall of fire, Zathena just outside of it.
Kalista nearly smirked, but caught herself and instead slitted her eyes open just enough to pinpoint Zathena. With on sharp jerk, she threw her body up and forwards, thanking herself once again for taking gymnastics in middle school. As she landed, she sun her arms down, the stake heading straight for Zathena's head.
Zathena ducked, twisting to the side and avoiding a blow to her head, and instead receiving a crushing blow to her side. "Eclipse." She growled, gritting her teeth against the searing pain that bloomed in her side. "And you, stupid, insolent human. Next time I will make sure you don't wake up."

OOC}} Yes, I am very randomly switching to 1st-person POV.
{{Lucian}} I rolled my eyes and stepped forward, one lip curving upwards into a growl. I was about ready to snap the amulet around my neck that kept me in human form and rip someone's head off, and if it just so happened to be Jace... so be it. "Well, I for one am getting tired of this pointless threatening. How about we actually make this whole thing really go somewhere?" I heard Sorina softly snort behind me. "You don't think Zathena getting staked was action?" "Not enough action for me," I growled softly.

Kalista smirked. "Huh. Well, I'll be sure to remember that next time and leave the 'fun' to you. Not. I actually thought that I did pretty well considering I'm not some all mighty werewolf or super strong vampire, and I just got almost strangled to death. It turns out my acting skills can be put to use outside of the classroom. How wonderful." With a thin lipped smile, she whacked Zathena on the stomach with the stake, but not peircing the skin....yet. "And that's what you get for ruining my first day here in wonderful little Amenia, place where nightmares come alive and everyone is trapped in their own personal hell." She raised her arms for another blow.
Eclipse yowled loudly, calling an offering to vampires. Almost immeadiatly, Rayn flounced in. She skipped across the gym, her long skirts twirling around her ankles. She bounced to a stop gracefully, then smiled a large, sweet smile. "Hello." Rayne's voice was girlish, bubbly, and melodic, completely contrasting with her overall appearance.
Zathena spoke coldly with no emotion whatsoever tracing her features as she stood, waving her hand dismissivly at Kalista. "An easy snack." Ignoring the pain in her side and stomach, she snapped her fingers, more ropes whipping towards Sorina.
Rayne smiled in delight. "For me? How thoughtful!" She laughed a high, musical laugh and danced closer to Kalista. "Don't worry, I'll be gentle. You won't feel a thing. Even in the hall earlier, I could hardly resist, and now look! I get to have a taste!" She smiled angelically and reached her arms out, moving forward at lightning speed. It simply looked as though the two were locked in an embrace, but in all actuality it was much darker.
Kalista let out a soft gasp as Rayne's fangs peirced her neck, and she tried to twist away. Rayne's grip was like an iron vise though, and Kalista found she couldn't move. Desperatly she tried to do something, anything, before her life was sucked away.

{{Sorina}} Seriously? was my automatic thought as the ropes tightened around me. Such things very rarely freaked me out - I'd been raised here, after all. Slowly, I let myself relax, waiting for the right chance to start working on the ropes, but I knew it wouldn't be in time to help Kalista. "Lucian," I hissed, hoping for once he would choose not to take time to be an obnoxious smart-aleck.
{{Lucian}} My eyes snapped to Sunny, and a lazy smirk lightly graced my lips. Something to do, finally. I stepped forward, effortlessly snapping the amulet around my neck. I took a few extra moments to calculate the situation, and then I unexpectedly lunged for Rayne, shifting with ease into a sleek, silver, blue-eyed wolf. I knocked her away from the human and stood snarling, lashing my tail, the glitter in my eyes daring her to try again.

Rayne, caught off guard, stumbled to the floor, a slightly half crazed look in her eyes. "Now that wasn't very nice doggy. I was almost finished." She chided him, bouncing to her feet. In one lightning fast movement she was behind Lucian, smiling a rather warm smile for a half crazed killer. "I just wanted a little taste....maybe I might have changed her. It'd be safer for her that way, a predator instead of the prey. Even a mutt like you can see the sense in that, can't you?" She trilled, her words quite convincing.
Kalista wobbled precariously for several moments, several emotions flickering through her eyes. First annoyance, then anger, then downright terror, but the terror was gone almost instantly, so not even the most perceptive of people would have noticed it. She open her mouth slightly as though to speak, then collapsed ungracefully to the floor. Rayne had taken a lot of blood, but not enough to kill her. She still had enough in her system to live, but a few more seconds and it would have been too late.
Amalia staggered to her paws, the worst of her knife wound already healed. She took one look at the situation, then transformed into her human form, grabbing the knife that had been used to stab her, she went straight to Sorina, quickly beginning to cut the ropes around her wrists. "Hiya! Don't you just love falling unconscious during a battle, then waking up to find that complete and total chaos has ensued?" She spoke with a rather grim cheerfulness as she began to work on the other ropes.

{{Sorina}} I snorted, unable to resist a Lucian-esque smirk as I shrugged off the last of the ropes. "Totally. When I was human, there were two occasions where I fell unconscious and woke up with a knife to my throat." I offered a characteristic dry half-smile. "Thanks, by the way."
{{Lucian}} I whirled around to face Rayne, shifting back into human form so I could speak to her more easily. I crossed my arms and fixed her with a fierce, cold blue glare. "While you do have somewhat of a twisted point, I already promised to help protect her, and plus I hate all bloodsuckers anyway, so I didn't really want another one on my hands."

Amalia grinned. "No problem. Now....how to save my annoying brother? Her eyes suddenly alighted on Kalista, who, moments before had been standing, now lay in a heap on the ground. "What happened to her? She was like, the best human fighter I've seen in a long time. How'd they beat her?"
Rayne shrugged her delicate looking shoulders. "You can't protect her all the time, so she's bound to die within the next month anyway. If she isn't a vampire, what else are you supposed to turn her into so she'll live when you're not around?" Strangely enough, Rayne seemed to have at least a sliver of genuine curiosity laced in her words. "I mean, she might taste delicious, but she's got spunk. It'd be a shame to have her die, especially before she finds, totures, and kills him for revenge. He's been waiting for her to pop up and attempt revenge since she arrived." Rayne crossed her arms loosly, still prepared to fight if he chose. The crazed look was dying off a little, but the scent of blood wasn't helping much.

{Sorina} I grimaced. "Rayne drank from her. That'll take out about any human, no matter how good a fighter they are."
{Lucian} I snorted. "Eventually, she'll probably get changed somehow. It just won't be by you, or anyone else who's managed to piss me off. Get the picture?" I growled, my blood beginning to pump as I prepared to shift and lunge again.

Amalia sighe, muttering. "Dumb bloodsuckers...no offense towards you, you're one of the okay ones. Rayne on the other hand....she's difficult. She's good, yet evil at the same time. It's a bit confusing." She darted to Kalista's side, scooped her up with suprising strength for a girl her size, then lay her own gently against the wall behind Sorina.
Rayne sensed the change, ready to leap away. "It seems to me like everyone pisses you off." She darted behind him again, but this time she moved next to the exit. "I've got a little warning for you though, sent from Mr. All high and mighty himself. If Kalista doesn't show up soon, he's gonna take action into his own hands. He said that this time she won't wake up. She's broken the biggest rule this time and just like that night 4 years ago, shell have to pat the consequences." She laughed rather darkly. "His words not mine. You will pass the message on for me, won't you?"
Amalia, hearing Rayne's words, looked at Sorina curiously. "What's she talking about? I thought Kalista was knew here. She wouldn't know anyone dangerous from 4 years ago if she just arrived."
Kalista stirred slightly, starting to come slightly back to her senses, then falling unconscious again.
