Untitled
I am who I am and I'll be who I'll be, and nothing can compare to the feeling of being free
As a bird soaring through the sky
Caught in the hourglass of time
Encircled by love and peirced by doubt
I'll travel through twilight eternal
To find adventure and wonder
Beyond each new bend on a road untraveled
And I'll make my on path in the world of destiny
And find my own way to the sea
Where memory collides with dreams
And nightmares bloom upon each thought
I'll dance through the world on feather-light feet
Sure to leave my footprint on the floor of eternity
And I'll write my story on the blank pages of life's book
Drink from the water of immortality
And find my way to the lost treasures of the world
Caught in everlasting vanilla dawn
And I'll pass through each dark place and find sunshine
Taste the sugar sweet flavor of ecstasy on my tongue
And lose myself in that vortex of laughter
I'll play in the rain without a care in the world
And discover myself in all my travels
My own personal wonderland hidden in the depths of my mind
I'll fight my way free from the clutches of insanity
Breaking through the surface of that dreamland world we're all caught in
And entangle myself so deeply into the scents and sounds and sights and feelings of imagination that I'll never be pried free
Escaping from reality and weaving my way within that secret realm
Where fantasy is alive and truth rings beyond the snares of those darkhearted lies
Caught in the breezes of breathtaking bewonderment,
I'll fly beyond your expectations and paint with the colors of the wind
I'll show you the secrets of angels,
And maybe when I'm done you'll find me again
Asleep on my own silver-lined cloud among my blossoms of success
Breathing to the rhythm of the ocean
Living to the heartbeat of the earth
And I'll slip away with grace, brushing past your fingertips and lifting up once again on a wave of possibility that carries me away until I'm gone
And you've lost me again
To that ethereal and fantastical world that you'll never be part of
You are who you are and you'll be who you'll be
But nothing can compare to the feeling of being free
Untitled (Again...)
Born from laughter, shaped from tears,
Scarred by anger, shrouded in fears,
Healed by love, and strengthened by pain,
Crushed by the sadness that keeps me sane,
Broken by change, and fixed by joy,
Heartbroken at the loss of a brand new toy
Taught by example, Lost by envy
Kept moving forward by every can be
With each new goal and every tear
I find that it's worth it, the light is near.
Sweet Laughter
(note: This was written after a girl in my school made a mistake, one that cost her life. She was murdered in August last year.)
Lying there amongst the deadly blossoms
And tasting the bitter exilir of those honeyed words
That led her so far astray as to drink the cool waters
That slowly extinguished the life within
Not water at all,
But sour venom that was breathed down her throat
And which drips into her crimson blood
Racing through her veins like ice.
Her frigid lips parted in soundless wails
The pleas for one more chance
But which will not be given.
Alas, the vanity of her heart!
The girlish yearning for something more,
The childish thought that the voice which led her astray
Was harmless, that she was safe.
So wrong.....but 'tis too late for regrets now.
And as her life slips away and the soft velvet
Darkness of death envelopes her in its comforting warmth
Bringing end to the suffering and the useless fight
Against the taking away of something that was already lost
That which had slipped between her pale fingers
As quickly as water from the spout
Or blood from the wound,
She can only remember the sweet laughter
Of that summer so many years before.
She was too young to leave this earth in such a manner
As she did, listening to the foolish longing
That stirred in her veins when those sugar-sweet words were spoken
Meant only for her ears to hear,
The soundless promise of safety was naught but a lie
Covered by a thin film of deception.
Her honest mind did not sense the darker threat that lingered
Below the surface,
Like sharks beneath the water.
No, nothing was known but the breath-taking rush,
The music-like sound that filtered through her ears and to her heart
And the cinnamony scent brought on the breeze
The taste of pure joy on her tongue.
How could she have known that the tantalizing promise
That lay just beyond her fingertips was but a well thought out deception?
That the promises murmured to her ears and
That felt like fresh water fed to thirsty lips
And a parched body were untruthful?
And yet as she took her last precious breaths
She could not hold a single regret for what had been stolen away from her
Like a child snatched away in the dead of night,
No, all she could sense was the bittersweet memory
Of the sweet laughter of that summer so many years before.
