{Lydia} I approached the house slowly, my feet echoing softly off the ground; I walked quietly, almost stalked, not just because of vampire blood, but also because I grew up in Amenia, and you sort of learned not to draw attention too obviously. Although I didn't have a heartbeat to quicken and alert me to it, I could tell that I was nervous right now; nevertheless, I didn't stop, just kept walking up the stairs. I had come here for a reason - walking, no less, in the pitch dark, alone, one of the most dangerous things you could do here aside from walking around with an "Eat Me" sign around your neck - and I didn't intend to turn back now. I knocked lightly on the door.

{Venus} I answered the door quickly, having a smile on my face, as always. I should be more hesitant, considering how late it was, but I wasn't at all. When I saw Lydia I noticed something was bothering her. "Hello, Lydia. You can come in." I said softly, moving from the door way. "What brings you here?" I asked her softly. I then heard my mother pad down the steps. She stood there, but was waiting for Lydia to answer before saying anything.

"Hi, Venus," I said, a friendly smile lighting my face, but my heart wasn't really in it. "I... I know it's odd, but I wanted to talk to your mother."

{Venus} "That's fine. I'll be up in my room to give you guys privacy..." I said and left quickly. {Crystal} I walked over to her. "Hello, Lydia. What's going on?" I asked her softly. I sat down in a chair near her.

I shrugged. "I guess I wanted to ask you something..." I murmured softly, almost inaudibly, spinning the sun-protection ring I used around my second finger. I stayed quiet, trying to word what I wanted to say.

"What about...?" I asked softly. It seemed like it was difficult for her to talk about. It seemed clear to me as to what the topic was about, but I'd rather her ask.

I finally looked up, my bright green eyes meeting with her hazel. "You knew my mother, didn't you?" I said softly. "As in... very well?"

"Yeah... She was the closest thing I had to a true sister..." I said softly, and easier than I thought I would. Maybe because I knew she wanted to speak about her mother. I looked into her eyes. I felt then a pull at my heart, but I could easily hold back any tears that would rush to my eyes.

I nodded. "I thought so. Then... I guess I wanted to know... what was she like? I've never known. Her name's avoided, not by any official consent, but I've never wanted to ask my dad and I've never wanted to ask my aunt... it's just... I don't want to unearth too much of what's been buried." I sighed. "But I had to ask, eventually. Exactly... who was she? I know her name, and by now I know what she looked like just from so many people telling me that she was the blonde version of me. But... what was she like? What kind of person was she?"

I smiled at her softly, not having any problems with telling her. "Well for one she was a very intelligent person. Your father and her were always in a love/hate relationship. She couldn't stand your father, but I knew deeply she loved him... She was very kind, and very independent. She hid every emotion she had. It was hard for me to read her, but I tried my best. She stayed out of trouble as much as possible. You're father led her into skipping school. He also led her into tough situations. She wasn't stupid like me and would be nice to those who we hated at times, but she definitely wouldn't try to start a fight like your father..." I said softly. Then memories started to flood back and tears started to form, but I would not allow them to fall. "Her being the way she is makes it easy to understand why she died the way she did... I just wish she wouldn't have went through with her decision." I said softly. I looked deeper into her eyes, trying to control myself. "She sacrificed herself...for me. I was about to be killed, but she knew that the person who was trying to kill me would want to kill her more. I had always been a very suicidal, and anytime I would bring anything up like that she would get mad. She would always threaten to slap me one day it got even farther than that point, but especially after that I wanted nothing more than to die so your father almost lost me that day too. I was so very close. If that window had been blocked he probably wouldn't have made it in on time, and I would've died as well... Times have been difficult since then. She was a wonderful person... That's why I'm not surprised you don't hear about her much. Too much pain is lying underneath it all, and it's really hard to remember it..." I said softly. I had said everything slowly and softly. I didn't want to dump everything on her, so I took my time to explain it all. I had to be careful with everything that I said because I didn't want to upset her or myself...

I leaned back, stunned, my eyes widening slightly. "She sounds... a lot like me. But I don't think I'm that good of a person." I smiled bleakly.
