"I'm way better at that than anything else. The only thing is I'm not exactly sure how fast I run. I'm pretty fast, and I can run faster than I could the other night." I said remembering us racing the night I met Lacey. I then, for some odd reason, remembered the time when I tripped and fell in front of him. "I'm also a lot more graceful in wolf form." I stated immediately.

For some reason, he bit the usual smirk and rolled his eyes. "Well, wolves are naturally more graceful I suppose. Anyway, if you have any chance of winning a fight, I suppose that would be it - although I' m not sure if you'd be faster than a bloodsucker..." He inclined his head, his blue eyes thoughtful.

"Whatever...." I said rolling my eyes at him. "Even in human form I'm faster than them. I've had a lot of practice with Fate. Trust me she runs really fast, but not even close to being faster than me." I said all of this confidently. I surely could out run any vampire. "Plus, I'm better when I'm really mad at someone." I knew I was better than it seemed at the moment. I couldn't stay mad at Lucian if I even tried, so their is no way I could even visioning myself killing him.

He smirked. "Shouldn't be a problem with Lacey then, should it?" He pursed his lips, considering. "She's a vampire of course, so she has vampire skill, but when she was human she was always pretty soft and weak - it takes a bit of a toll now. You should be able to handle her, to a degree."

"Well then we've wasted a good bit of time then haven't we. I'm sorry that I'm no good with exactly fighting." I said to him sighing a bit. I wasn't totally wanting help with just my fighting. I just wanted to be strong. I wanted to be able to handle the fact that I would be killing someone, and I wanted to be able to control my emotions. I had been able to do this before, but I lost all control at first with Alex and then with Lucian. Both guys changed my life around. I just wanted to still be pretending I was human, and I wished that it didn't hurt to hang out with my best friend. I changed back into my human form. I was spacing out, and my eyes were looking into Lucian's as I stood there. All of the thoughts were still flowing through my mind as I held the tears back.

He shifted back as fluidly as always and crossed his arms, looking down at her with raised eyebrows. "Now what's your drama?"

"It's nothing. What does it matter to you anyways? You wouldn't care." I said still thinking. I was looking straight in his eyes not caring what I said to him. I wasn't wrong. He wouldn't understand or care, or at least he would pretend he didn't. I was tired of all of that. I didn't want anymore of that pain from him.

He chuckled and inclined his head. "Yeah, you're probably right about that," he admitted.

I rolled my eyes at him, but couldn't help but laugh a little bit. He really was a jerk, but he was my friend. He was the friend I'd always love, but we could still have that friendly love/hate relationship. I knew we could understand eachother, and it wasn't fair to him or myself if I wished or dwelled on the past. I'd just have to deal with what I have for now. I'd have to face everything in my life sooner or later. I couldn't run away anymore. "I think we should go back. It's starting to get dark." I said looking up at sky.

He smirked, his blue eyes dancing with that strange light. "Sure thing, princess," he murmured, walking back at the pace he always seemed to use - somewhere between leisurely and brisk.

I stood there for a second and rolled my eyes. I turned and followed him. Come to think about it I haven't ever rolled my eyes this much. I hardly ever did before. We walked in and sat next to Rose. "So, was there anything else the witches did at your school? Did they leave with someone, or ask anyone else about anything?" I asked Rose trying to figure out what they were planning.

She shrugged. "They left with one of the werewolves - I don't know his name. They keep to themselves, really."

"What were they planning to do with a werewolf?" I said really to myself. I had no idea what they were doing at all. Those two girls were strange and confusing to me.

Lucian rolled his eyes, tossing a coke can from hand to hand as he padded into the room. "Who cares? They'll probably kill him soon anyway." It was right then that the knock came - three light taps, really the kind of style only one person would use. Lucian stopped walking immediately - to anyone who didn't know him, he looked completely calm, but if you spent a lot of time around him, then you could recognize the way he froze, and his thick hand wrapped around the tin can, crushing it into an unrecognizable shape. By unspoken consent, he padded towards the doorway, grinning as if he were happy, which was an expression Lucian just didn't convey, even when he wasn't dealing with the one vampire he hated most in the world. He opened the door slowly and said in a mock-friendly tone, "Well hello, psychopathic bloodsucker." His eyes flicked up to the two witches behind him, and he smiled sarcastically in greeting. "And psychopathic friends." Lacey smiled back, although in the mood she was in, it wasn't so much that as a cruel twist of her delicate lips. "Hello, Lucian. Long time, no see - at least two or three weeks, and some count that as a long time." "Not long enough for me," he retorted, and the note of iciness was back in his voice. All pretenses of civility faded, and he narrowed his eyes, shifting to a battle-ready position. "Lacey, you have exactly five minutes to tell me what the hell you're doing here, and make it not involve hurting anyone I care about, or you're dead." He mimed snapping her neck to the side. "So talk." "Fine." She smirked. "I am here for Rose. I don't suppose she already qualifies as 'someone you care about'?" His expression was unreadable. "Hunting human children? Not your typical style, Lacey." "Protecting human children," she shot back. "Not your typical style, Lucian." "You have a point," he acknowledged, "But it is part of my style to rip off the heads of vampires, especially vampires like you. And besides, if I sacrifice Rose, I'm pretty sure I'll have a lot of drama to deal with from... well, everyone, and that's something I don't really feel like dealing with." He said it all flatly and calmly, only a hint of his broiling anger underlining the words. Lacey's eyes narrowed. "Must we make everything a power struggle? Just move aside, werewolf." His upper lip curled up - both in disdain and as a predatory threat. "Not happening, bloodsucker," he replied evenly.

I froze when I heard the knock. I so wished it was Matt, but of course I was wrong. When I heard Lacey say she was here for Rose I stood up automatically holding Rose close to me. She wasn't going to touch her. I still stood at the couch, but had the urge to make my presence known. "Hello Lacey." I said to her narrowing my eyes. I then looked at the witches behind her. I didn't even bother to say anything to them. I was too furious to say a word to them. I just narrowed my eyes at them.
